Can I Get Access to View Our Church's Transactions?

Quick answer: QuickBooks Online access for the complete financial picture (all accounts, giving, bills, and payroll) at a transaction level, or Fathom access if you specifically want to line item level reporting.

Board members and treasurers often ask for Fathom Financial Reporting ahead of a board meeting or financial review. The right tool depends on what you're reviewing.

Option 1: QuickBooks Online — The Complete Financial Picture

If your goal is to review the church's overall financial health, QuickBooks Online (QBO) is the right tool.

  • What it shows: Everything. Bank accounts, tithes and offerings, utility bills, payroll, and credit card activity all live in QuickBooks. It is also the data source behind your church's Fathom financial reports.

  • What access looks like: You can be granted full access to QuickBooks — including Primary Owner status if the board wants total control. This is the view most church treasurers and boards prefer for oversight.

Option 2: Fathom HQ — Line Item / Summary Financials

  • What it shows: Line item actuals, budget, averages and totals

  • What it doesn't show: Transaction level detail.

  • What access looks like: You can be added to the church's Fathom account.
